Airbnb Hunters – Oslo, Norway

Jan 31, 2023 | Christine Tucker

As I explain in Introduction to Airbnb Hunters, this is the Oslo, Norway edition.

What We are Looking for in Choosing our Oslo Airbnb:

  1. As always, a reasonable price. There are a lot of nice options in Oslo in January for around $100 a night.
  2. Location in the heart of the city, within easy walking distance.
  3. The right balance of style, character, and comfort
  4. A full kitchen so we can cook some meals.

Here are our choices:

  1. Nice loft with balcony – this Airbnb has a beautiful outdoor space with great light. It has a full kitchen, tv, but no elevator to get you up to the 5th floor. I’m always a sucker for sloped ceilings and love the decor. Central location. The least expensive at $330 for 3 nights including taxes and fees.
  2. Eclectic design hideaway in trendy Grønland – this apartment has been featured in magazines but isn’t actually our favorite color schemes. It has a small balcony, an amazing wood burning stove, high ceilings, full kitchen, beautiful and comfortable furnishings. Reviews emphasize how accommodating the host is and convenient the location. Cost is $445 for the 3 nights with all taxes and fees.
  3. Super central newly renovated 1BR apartment – this option is very modern with a balcony and a very well equipped kitchen. There’s a tv with streaming options and guests rave about the comfort of the bed and heated floors in the bathroom. Did notice that you have to pick up keys by 1 AM. Central location as well. Cost is $451 for the 3 nights including taxes and fees.

I haven’t done my homework on what all we exactly want to do while in Oslo so I have nothing to check the central location to on all of these. It looks like public transport is great in Oslo if the weather keeps us from wanting to walk and all of these apartments are close to public transport. None of the prices are exorbitant especially considering costs in Norway – options 2 and 3 are essentially the same. I do have concerns about the 1 AM check in cut off on place 3 because our flight is getting in around 11 PM that night. However, sometimes you can ask hosts to make other arrangements.

The ingenious traveler in Peru

Hi, I’m Christine!

I’ve been traveling my whole life. I can’t remember ever having a time in my life that I didn’t travel. For me, planning my next trip is as natural as doing my weekly meal plan. Life is busy – I juggle a career as a REALTOR®, being a mom of 3, and being active in the community.  However, I know that ANYONE can travel and that it doesn’t have to be overwhelming or expensive.
